Open Arms has been anchored around 275m from the Italian island after Italy‘s interior minister refused docking permission because of his crackdown on charity rescue boats.

The ship had 147 migrants but 40 have been taken ashore, including those who were minors or ailing.

Many of the migrants have been onboard the vessel from 17 days since Open Arms began its rescue mission.
